I have been creating art since I had two elementary teachers encourage me to enter my work in some contests. When my work won awards both in 3rd and 4th grades it made me aware that not everyone "does art." From those early elementary school days to this current day, I have not stopped creating artwork. It's a part of who I am and today I have a dedicated space to work in watercolor and pastel painting. My work has been featured in juried shows through the Colorado Watercolor Society and the Pastel Society of Colorado and the Association of Nebraska Art Clubs state show as well as many other art shows across the regional area of Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska. I have won several awards for my pieces which lead to holding signature memberships in three art groups.

My work is influenced by the vibrant light and the colors and textures of the Colorado plains, as well as the emotions and experiences that I experienced growing up, raising three sons and now living here in this rural setting. I strive to create pieces that are both visually stunning and emotionally impactful as often as I can.

I begin each piece with an intent that is inspired by an element in my view. I continue exploring "What lights my fire" through small sketches in monotone water media. Once I have my composition worked out by focusing on the shapes and values of my subject, I move onto selecting a limited color palette. With this planning portion complete, I work through the process of painting in watercolor--light to dark or in pastel--dark to light. I always try to "finish" before the painting is complete to spend some time evaluating my work and maybe after some time I apply some finishing touches. I believe that the process of creating art should be just as fulfilling as the finished piece.
